Is there anyway I can send in a movie idea? Like to universal studios or something? if so how?
I wrote a short “superhero” story for theater class and read it to the class today and everyone loved it. One guy said I should send it in as a movie idea. How would I go about doing it?
The story followed a teenage girl (Samantha) who discovers she can see the future and use the fire element against people. One day a guy (Alec) finds her and just takes her to the place him, Stephanie (brunette quiet girl), Elizabeth (Blonde very kind) and Josh(gay guy who’s not afraid to show it) and they train her she ends up going against the villain which she doesn’t really defeat and there’s a HUGE surprise ending that made the class go “aaaaawwwwww” basically its a suspence, comedy, superhero thing
No, you have to get an agent. Studios will not look at scripts or ideas that do not come through an agent. If they did, they mail would never ever stop coming.
Besides, even if you could, anyone, and I mean anyone could take your idea and make it their own.
Someone could steal it right off here if they wanted.
First, register your work through the Writers Guild of America West to protect yourself from someone stealing it:

Next, get an agent or a manager by picking up a copy of the Hollywood Representation Directory and compiling a list of every agent or manager that represents writers in the genre you write in. Then you send them all query letters (you don’t send your screenplays). Interview the ones that respond, and pick the one that you believe will work the best for you and be the best fit. Remember that the agent or manager You Pick works for YOU, not the other way around. This person will then shop your work for you.
You don’t have to have an agent. A manager can do the same things. They’re just usually from a smaller outfit. You just have to have someone to represent you.
